Organic Handloom Silk

Peace Silk

Non-violent silk, Ahimsa Silk or Peace Silk, is produced from cocoons without killing the pupae inside or without sacrificing animal life.

“Ahimsa”, meaning “nonviolence”, is a philosophy of many eastern religions, stating that humans should refrain from inflicting suffering on others, including non-human and even non-animal life. In this process silk worm can complete their life cycle and finally fly away as a beautiful butterfly.

Cocccon crafts & loom  is the fastest growing manufacturer of  organically produced peace Silk. Cocoons are all allowed to hatch and breed, and the silk is processed from the hatched cocoons. In some cases, the cocoons can be pierced or cut open and the butterfly tipped out.

How is it Organic?

GOTS

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well.

Manufacturing Process

Dedicated to produce high quality  non-violent silk fabrics organically, project Cocccon is a modern form of  rural cooperative industry. It has a decentralised  production cycle, which allows silk farmers, spinners, weavers  etc  to work directly from their place. All these differnt units are well connected with  a centralised headquarter. Storage of cocoons, yarns and ready textile are done at its headquarter. Here is step wise information about production cycle.
